Hongkong Travel Information

When you fly into Hong Kong you are on Kowloon Peninsula. From here you can catch the train to wherever you wish to go. If you have an 8 hour stop over and want to do the cable car then you need to get off the train at Tsing Yi and change to the orange line. There is only one line from the airport. Maps and brochures are free at the airport. You will need to sit for a few minutes and work out where you are going. I went straight to the end of the line on Hong Kong Island. Even if you aren’t used to underground trains they are easy to work out. I did a hop-on-hop-off bus tour. Go left when you get off the train, up the stairs, straight ahead, and left over the walkway and down to the wharf where ferries leave. The buses can be caught here. It pays to exchange your money at the airport and perhaps have something to eat to get some change. The bus tour does not give you change if you don’t have the correct amount.

Your time in Hong Kong will be jammed packed whether it’s a few hours like me or a few days. On Kowloon Peninsula there are 33 shopping malls. On Hong Kong Island there are 27.

On the West train line things of note are; Kat Hing Wai, the famous Walled Village and Hong Kong Wetland Park.

Kwun Tong; Festival Walk with 200 stores and APM, a late night shopping mall with all the shops you will ever need.

Island line; has Harvey Nichols and Hollywood Road.

Tsuen Wan line; Park Lane Shoppers Boulevard and Temple Street.

Airport Express line; the IFC Mall and Maritime Square.

Museums, parks, bays, shopping, food, Soho, racing, markets, squares, ferries, junks,, aquarium, jewels, gold, culture, bird garden, flower market, goldfish, avenue of stars, art, heritage, temples, wetlands, Tsing Ma Bridge, Noah’s Ark, Hong Kong Disneyland, Lantau Island, promenades, monastery’s, golf, Lamma Island…..

You can buy Travel pass tickets and Tourist day and Children passes or an Octopus pass.
